Defending Hannah

The first trailer of 13 Reasons Why season 2 is out and it looks thrilling. It seems like this season will be bigger and better than the last. After watching the trailer I started to remember the old point of contention that arose during the airing of the last season. Most people disliked Hannah for her actions and as the title suggests I am here to defend her. I am not a particular fan of Hannah’s characterisation but nevertheless I felt that the flak she received for being a victim was a tad bit too harsh.

The Magic of Binge Watching

Binge watching television is a fairly newer trend. Ten or so years ago there wasn’t such a practice and even if there was it was often treated as obsession and requiring psychiatric therapy. But what was once applicable to crazed fanatics of motion picture has now become a brand in itself. It’s cool to binge watch now. But how does this help the television market?

The Walking Dead: What Went Wrong!

I binged The Walking Dead this November and caught up to the current season and episode. It has been one hell of a roller coaster ride and like all such rides it always ends by going downhill. Unfortunately, The Walking Dead has added its name to the list of all such great shows which, after seasons 4 or 5, were beyond recognition due to its bad writing. Such shows include Game of Thrones.

Robert Baratheon Vs Henry VII & Henry VIII

George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire is heavily inspired by medieval history and the history of ancient Roman Empire. Previously I had drawn analogies of Aerys II Targaryen with the Roman Emperor Caligula and Wildfire with the Byzantine Greek Fire. Today we will draw parallels of Robert Baratheon with the lives of the kings of England: Henry VII and Henry VIII.

The Plot That Was Promised: Petyr Baelish aka Littlefinger.

Dan Weiss and David Benioff gave us four wonderful seasons of the show, which is an adaptation of the book series, “A Song of Ice and Fire”. There were major plot differences but there is no adaptation in the world which is as good as the books; except perhaps The Godfather or To Kill a… Continue reading The Plot That Was Promised: Petyr Baelish aka Littlefinger.

What Could Have Been: Robb and Myrcella Betrothed

The betrothal of Joffrey and Sansa tops the list of mistakes that Robert Baratheon and Ned Stark made. Here's the second blog in the What Could Have Been series which explores the future of Westeros had another match replaced the one between Joffrey and Sansa or had been fixed alongside there's.

The Plot that was Promised: Tyrion Lannister

Call me a book fanatic, but the arc that had been given to this wonderful character has been ruined beyond repair. The man who was once speculated to be the next King of Westeros has been reduced to nothing but a failure.

Understanding Rhaegar

Contrary to what was shown in the finale episode of Game of Thrones, Season 7, the Rhaegar that has been described in the books doesn't seem like the kind of man who would put everything aside for the sake of love. So, what was it that led the Prince of Dragonstone to elope with Lyanna Stark? Was it the obsession with a prophecy or was he not in control of his actions?
